About Jennifer
Jennifer Alexander is the founder of Pelvic Physio Niagara and has been practising physiotherapy for over 20 years. Her career has been shaped by a deep commitment to women's health, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and helping people return to the activities they love.
Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology before earning her Bachelor of Physical Therapy from Queen's University, followed by a Masters of Rehabilitation. She has since pursued extensive postgraduate training in pelvic health, birth preparation, and Clinical Pilates, combining evidence-informed care with a compassionate, individualized approach to treatment.
A Personal Journey That Shaped Her Passion
Jennifer's passion for pelvic health is deeply personal.
Following the emergency C-section birth of her first child, Jennifer experienced pelvic pain and faced an increased risk of postpartum depression. Despite being a physiotherapist herself, she found herself navigating a recovery she hadn't anticipated.
Seeking support, Jennifer attended a clinic dedicated to pelvic health physiotherapy and worked with a psychotherapist to support her emotional well-being. Through this combination of care, her pelvic pain resolved, and she was able to regain her confidence and quality of life.
However, after a planned C-section with her second child, her pelvic pain returned. This experience reinforced something she now shares with her patients every day: pelvic pain is common, but it is not something women should have to simply accept or live with.
Having experienced both the physical and emotional challenges of postpartum recovery, Jennifer understands firsthand how pelvic floor conditions can affect far more than just the body. They can impact confidence, relationships, mental health, and everyday life.
Turning Lived Experience Into Purpose
These experiences inspired Jennifer to build a practice where women feel comfortable discussing concerns that are often overlooked, misunderstood, or considered too personal to talk about.
Her mission is to educate and empower women to better understand pelvic pain, bladder leakage, painful intercourse, and other pelvic floor conditions that can significantly affect their quality of life.
Jennifer is passionate about combining movement, education, hands-on physiotherapy, and holistic rehabilitation to help patients build strength, regain confidence, and return to living their lives fully.
From pregnancy and postpartum recovery to perimenopause, menopause, and beyond, she strives to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every patient feels heard, supported, and actively involved in their care.
As a mom of two, Jennifer brings not only over two decades of clinical experience but also the understanding that comes from having walked a similar path herself.
Her belief is simple: Women deserve to understand their bodies, have their concerns taken seriously, and know that help is available.
Advancing the Field Through Education
Jennifer is a Lab Instructor for Pelvic Health Levels 1 and 2 in Toronto, where she shares her knowledge and passion for pelvic health with fellow physiotherapists. She finds great fulfillment in teaching, mentoring, and helping other clinicians develop the skills and confidence to provide exceptional, evidence-informed care. Jennifer believes that education is key to advancing the field of pelvic health and ensuring more individuals have access to knowledgeable, compassionate care.
